All Cubs

Today we will review and complete the steps for our Bobcat badges. 
Afterwards, we will start on our level badges.

Wolf Cubs
Achv.2; pg. 46:  Your Flag.  (Partial)  Do #2 A-G.
  • Pledge of Allegiance & meaning.
  • Lead a flag ceremony
  • US flag
  • Learn
    about the Texas flag
  • US flag: outdoor ceremony
  • Participate in an outdoor
    ceremony
  • Us flag: fold

Bear Cubs
Achv.3; pg. 34:  What Makes America Special?  Do #3 A & J + (2) B-I.
  • Write or tell: America special to you.
  • Character Connection for Citizenship.

These requirements are not expected to be completed within a 2 week period. 
These are ongoing requirements.  All must be completed in order to earn Rank Badge. 


Popcorn fundraiser continues until Nov. 9:
Nov. 9, Saturday: All orders and money is due. 
LATE orders cannot be accepted.  Be sure to turn in your order/money on time.
Online training certificates are due and uniforms should be worn at our next meeting.  Oct. 15, 2013

Tigers
Today we will review and complete the Bobcat steps.  Step #8 must be completed at home with Akela.
Achv.2F, pg. 46:  Look at a map of your community with Akela.
Achv.2D, pg. 47:  Practice the Pledge of Allegiance with
the Den, and participate in flag ceremony.

 To be set at a later date:
 Achv.2G, pg. 50:  Visit a police station or a fire station.  (This cannot be scheduled until each parent/guardian for each Cub completes the online training and turns in a certificate.)
Online training certificates are due and uniforms should be worn
Oct. 22nd.  This will be our next meeting.

 Webelos
Citizenship Badge; pg. 144. 
Do 1-8 + (2) 9-13.
1. Character Connection for Citizenship.
2. Know governmental offices:
a. President_____________
b. Vice Pres._____________
c. Governor______________
d. Mayor_______________
3. US flag:
a. Describe/give a short history
b. How to raise/lower & hang on wall.
4. Explain:
a. Respect-why?
b. Special days to fly flag.
c. When to salute & how.
5. Pledge of Allegiance:
a. Explain the meaning.
6. National Anthem: a. Written-how?
7. US Citizen:
a. Rights/duties
b. How to save natural resources.
8. Citizenship belt loop (earn),
Plus 2 additional from #9-13.

These requirements are not expected to be completed within a 2 week

Each Cub needs to bring .75 for dues to every meeting. 
This helps pay for snacks, papers, ink, pens, pencils, craft items, etc.

8C: Help fix 1+ meal(s) for your family.

Bear (Do 4 requirements)

9A: With Akela-bake cookies.
9B: With Akela-make snacks.
9C: With Akela-prepare 1 part of breakfast, lunch & dinner.
9D: List “junk food” you eat.  Discuss with Akela.
9E: Make “trail food” mix.
9F: With Akela-make dessert for family.
9G: With Akela-cook something outside.

Achv.3D: Make a Food Guide Pyramid/Character Connection: Keeping Myself Healthy and Safe—Health and Fitness.
Pg.119: Elective 28: Smoke Detectors: With Akela, check the batteries in your home.

Webelos:
Pg.246: Fitness Activity Badge (complete)
Complete the Character Connection for Health and Fitness.
(Do 6 requirements)
2.With Akela-complete a safety notebook.
3.Read& with Akela plan meals for 1 week.
4.Keep a record of your meals and snacks for 1 week. 
5.Tell Akela-the bad effects of smoking or chewing tobacco on your body.
6.Tell Akela-4 reasons not to use alcohol and how it could affect you.
7.Tell Akela-what drugs could do to your body.
8.Read the booklet “Take a Stand Against Drugs!” Discuss with Akela.

10. Family Fun (Page 88)
Do requirement A and do TWO of requirements 10b through 10g:
a. Complete the
Character Connection for Cooperation.




    • Know. Discuss these questions with your family: What is
      "cooperation"? Why do people need to cooperate when they are doing things
      together? Name some ways that you can be helpful and cooperate with others.


    • Commit. Discuss with your family what makes it hard to cooperate.
      How do listening, sharing, and persuading help us cooperate?


    • Practice. Practice being cooperative while doing the requirements
      for "Family Fun."



      b. Make a game like one of these. Play it with your family.
      c. Plan a walk. Go to a park or a wooded area, or visit a zoo or museum with
      your family.
      d. Read a book or Boys' Life magazine with your family. Take turns reading
      aloud.

      e. Decide with Akela what you will watch on television or listen to on the
      radio.
      f. Attend a concert, a play, or other live program with your family.

      g. Have a family Board Game night at home with members of your
      family.



      Bear:
